How our preparation works
Most candidates start case prep by attempting the most complex cases and trying to memorize solutions and frameworks. That is not how the best candidates prepare.
FIRMSconsulting’s methodology, built into The Consulting Offer program, gradually develops the three foundational case interview skills that have to be mastered before any candidate is ready to tackle full cases. Only once those are sufficiently mastered do we train candidates on increasingly complex cases.
The Consulting Offer
The Consulting Offer is FIRMSconsulting’s flagship case interview prep program. Every season, for six consecutive years, the program has placed at least one participant into McKinsey, BCG, and Bain. The methodology is the same one we use to train candidates one-on-one.
How to solve a case (the FIRMSconsulting way)
- Let the interviewer ask the case question. Confirm you understand it and have all the information you need before starting.
- Treat the interviewer as the client. Speak the way you would speak in a real engagement — not the way a candidate “performs” a case.
- As you develop the solution, explain why you are doing what you are doing. Ask for additional details and confirmation of the steps you are taking.
