Yes I enjoyed the program immensely because it provided me with many resources such as the videos that I directly utilized for improving my case skills.

Haaving Michael as my coach was very helpful because he was always responsive to my requests and provided me with helpful feedback particularly with my application strategy.

Did the program meet your expectations? If yes, how?

Yes the program did meet my expectations. My expectation was through this program, I would have the tools to succeed through the application and interview process. I was able to get an interview at McKinsey (second time) and also advance to the final round.

Although I did not get the offer in the end, I don’t think it was the materials and guidance that were dispositive, but rather an off-day.

What was the most important learning’s from the program?

The importance of clear communication in both the case and fit portions of the interview; how to brainstorm and hypothesize; how to perform market-sizing effectively

Do you feel the program provided an advantage for you versus your own/other preparation? If so, in what way?

I feel like this program dives deeper in how to think and structure like a consultant more so than my own and other preparation. Michael gave me nuanced tweaks on my communication that I was not aware of that helped me become more professional-sounding and client-friendly.

Further, the brainstorming and structuring exercises were absolutely key for me to develop further in my interview preparation.

Can you recall any memorable moments?

The twitter server market estimation case revealed to me how varied and difficult market sizing cases could be.

What would you like changed in the program?

I think that the program can emphasize interpreting charts and graphs more and also provide more difficult math structuring problems for candidates to do. This would help their skills in these areas as well as force them to practice synthesizing the data into key takeaways.

Do you believe your coach was effective?

Yes. Michael was effective because he provided clear and insightful feedback in our sessions. He also reviewed my networking and application strategy, giving me feedback and also providing a lot of reassurance that reinforced my persistence in pursuing consulting as a career.

Do you personally believe the sessions were tailored for your own development?

I think that Michael tailored the sessions for my own development—he gave me more exercises in areas that I had more difficulty in and made sure to check in to see how I was doing in my weak areas. He also pushed me to give better, more thought-out responses.

What are your thoughts on using former McKinsey/BCG worldwide practice leaders to coach clients?

I think it is a great idea because being mentored by a senior partner could greatly enhance and accelerate a candidate’s professional development.

I’m very glad to have used Firmsconsulting and believe that should I get an interview, I can get the offer.
