Oddly enough, very few candidates critically evaluate their learning styles before embarking on case training. To be fair, those who are weak at learning, present the most challenging cases for us.

This podcast looks at the different stages of learning: 0 – learning how to receive, capture and apply feedback, 1 – learning the hard skills, 2 – learning the communication skills, 3 – learning to apply both, and 4 – application of both in successively more complex environments.

Not surprisingly, many struggle at stage 0 and 2 but spend too much time thinking they are struggling at stage 1. This podcast explains why this happens and what to do about it.

Since we track client performance so closely, our video system allows us to see which candidates watch their prescribed videos and we can also track the quality of the questions they ask, by scoring them in the system. In simplest terms, those who prepare well, because they have good study habits, tend to do the best.

    I would not know. I rarely if ever read any journals. They are generally not useful. Does anyone still read the HBR? Must the same person still drinking Coca Cola.

  3. Michael, I was absolutely not questioning the validity of your statement, actually is the opposite. I’d like to understand if this “theory” can be applied to any learning process and if there are resources where I can deepen my knowledge on this subject.

  4. It just seems logical to me Alessandro. Why look for theory when we have applied it to well over 1,000 clients to test it?

    very insightful the part referring to the 4 stages of the Learning Curve.
    I was wondering if this podcast is drawn from your personal experience or there is a theory/research to back it up, which might generalize the principle for all “learning experiences”
