Below we share some thank you letters from FirmsConsulting members around the world. If you would rather see >100 detailed testimonials from clients, you can visit this page. Over the years we have received thousands of thank you emails, cards, thank you gifts sent to our offices and we just started sharing those so it will take some time for this page to be sufficiently populated (since our priority is always developing and releasing content for FC members and other core FC work. Not updating the thank you messages page :-)). However, the messages below are a good start and will be very helpful for newer members to get a sense of how other FC members make the most of FirmsConsulting training.
Cheers, Kris

Hello Kris, Michael and Team,
I have recently become a premium subscriber and have access to the StrategyTV app and website.
I often hear Michel saying, this kind of training or content is not available elsewhere in the promotional videos. I always suspected if this is really the case but now I know why he was saying it.
The content you are producing is far more worth the subscription we are paying. And, Yes, I have not seen this kind of content anywhere on the internet.
I would like to share my heartfelt gratitude to you all and the entire Firms Consulting family.
Looking forward to learning the key skills to solve the critical problems the mankind is facing.
Thanks again.

Hi Kris,
I’m glad to hear that you’re focusing on your wellness this year. One of the things that helped me decide to sign up for Firms Consulting was the story of your life on the FC site. I’m not a consultant nor in a prestigious role, but as an immigrant who is always trying to learn, I really related to your story, your strength through adversity, and your dedication. I just wanted to tell you that I (and I’m sure all the Insiders!) appreciate all the work and passion you put into all the incredible education from FirmsConsulting. But I hope that as you take the time to take care of yourself, you realize how much we appreciate you – not just for what you do, but who you are.
Happy New Year,
Emily
P.S. I don’t know if you remember this at all, but I commented on one of your Youtube videos last year that I was interviewing for a job. I got it, and moved from a scientific research role to a product management role. The FC programs have been very helpful through the transition, especially How to Develop Big Insights and the How to be Influential series, which has taught me a lot of soft skills. Looking forward to continuing to learn and grow in the new year!

To: FC Support <[email protected]>
Dear Micheal, Kris, and the rest of the FC Team,
I hope you are doing well during these unusual times.
I just wanted to let you know that FC Insider access was fundamental to me landing an offer! The wealth of information and content you have created is second to none. Thank you!
I spent the last 9 years in Xxxxx operations (Xxxxx and Xxxxx) working in many different locations worldwide. It took me almost three years to finally secure an offer after many final round rejections but it looks like the persistence combined with your training finally paid off.
I am now preparing myself to start in mid-May. If you do have any suggestion of what program to prioritize so that I can give myself the best foundation that would be appreciated. Currently, I am focusing on “The first 90 Days in Consulting” and plan to do “Follow a McKinsey engagement” afterward.
I have completed TCO1, TCO3, and the Experienced Hire Series.
As a suggestion, has there been any thought put into creating an online community for FC Insider (not a Facebook group)? Think of it as a Reddit community for FC Insider to discuss and access previous discussions.
Keep up the great work.
Best,
Stefan

I have been following you for more than three years now and the work you do truly inspires me and changes my view of things and life in general. I think I’ve never been excited more than the time I was studding your material or telling my friend or dad about you. Let me briefly share with your my story. I am Moroccan, I was born to two teachers, did all my schooling there until hight school then came to Canada, where I currently am, and graduated with a bachelor in finance. I have been unemployed for a year for permit reasons, among others, but currently looking to join Xxxx hopefully, or another place where I can learn the skills to help me bring some good change to africa and the world. I have had the opportunity to have access to your paid materials on two separate occasions. I learned a lot from the material. One day I promise I will be a loyal Insider. My heart is already there. I continue to use your very good free material. Thank you for that. Thank you soo much for changing the world the way you do. The work you do is incredibly inspiring and honest.

Thanks for your email.
Let me be honest, I am a die-hard fan of FIRMSconsulting and would love to be a life long member of the community, if possible.
However, I am currently going through a rough patch and need to manage my expenses well over the next 6-8 months in a foreign country. This was the main reason I decided to cancel my membership. Trust me it was a very tough choice and when I updated my mom about this decsion she suggested that I let you know that I will rejoin the FIRMSconsulting community as soon as I am ready for a comeback and get my spending power back. Each member of my family understands how the FIRMSconsulting community has helped me grow over the last 2-3 years.
Hope you understand that I am not going anywhere and will continue to be that sponge who will continue to learn and upgrade by skills even from outside.
I would be grateful if you could recommend the most optimal way to continue to invest my time in the free FIRMSconsulting content over next few months.
Wishing FIRMSconsulting community a very Happy New Year.

Hi Kris,
Thanks for the amazing values from FC insider. I now resubscribe your product for 1 year and I want to share some feedback with you.
- Your training is indeed more valuable than the price I pay. I’m not the consultant but the principle from Bill, Kavin, and masterplan program really create BIG impact on my life and my career. I got praise from my intern, my boss, and even my CEO about how I work and how I think strategically to tackle problems.
- The main reason I resubscribe is not because of your discount but it’s because I’ve seen that many series from Kavin have completely launched. (but I personally like discounts and more value.)
- The incompleted series do not frustrate me so much because I can jump to other series that are also great. However, I found the problem of applying it. I mean it takes time for applying your lessons in practice and really understand it. So when I learn too much, I feel that I should stop and absorb it first.

Subject: [TIME & INSIGHT] Starting 2020, Ranatunga style!
To: <[email protected]>, <[email protected]>
Hi Michael,
It was a pleasure writing this email and I deeply appreciate you taking the time to read my email below.
Noting your time is precious, let me start by saying I do honestly respect the time you are putting into reading this, I do not take it for granted as you really do not have to reply and considering most of my recent learning comes from being an insider, I appreciate you are extremely busy.
Having listened to your voice since October 2018 there is a level of excitement as I write this email to you. With a desire to what is currently a one-way relationship, to become two ways. Moving into 2020, I wanted to start this year strong, in full Ranatunga style!
So I am not just a name my brief bio is:
- My name Xxxx, an Xxxxxxx, XXXXXXXX, born and brought up in Xxxxxx, Xxxxx, currently 29 years old and working as a Managing Consultant (Manager) at Xxxxxxx.
- Went to a private school, Xxxxxx on the charity of extended family (as mine could not afford). Essentially grew up in a family of doctors with a chip on my shoulder.
- This led me to study engineering at a non-name university, Xxxxxx University. After losing too many family members to both health and non-health reasons, I wanted to solve problems that matter on a bigger scale. Thus leading me to join consulting.
- I got rejected from McKinsey and Bain after graduating, whereby, during the HR interview once they saw my school the interview was basically over. I never got invited to BCG and worked for the Government for a year before only getting an offer from Xxxxxx.
- Went from Graduate to a practice head in Xxxx in 4 years but still not feeling like I was addressing problems that matter. The exception to this was when I travelled to Xxxxx in 2018 to work on a growth strategy for an advocacy arm of the Government and a Minister there said my work reminded them of McKinsey.
- Taking this complement with the best of intentions and to heart, in May 2018, I networked, tried and studied (before knowing about Firms Consulting) and got interviews with BCG and McKinsey, only getting to the first round interview of BCG and not even passing the PST for McK. That said, it was an awesome experience and I learned much more than I had hoped and made some authentic connections on the way.
Inside, I know I am able to do something greater. Using my insider status as my guidance and general polishing around the edges, I aspire to be a great strategy Partner. Wanting to control my environment better, I have worked to find an area of Xxxx that gives me unique freedom AND allows me the flexibility to try different experiments in the firm. Getting rejected from MBB (twice) confirmed my desire to work on problems that matter with people that want to be there so I figured why can’t I just build a team like that in Xxxx. Structurally, Xxxx may not change and I’ve spent 6 months trying to make that happen however after hitting my umpteenth roadblock, I then became an insider. Trying to look at things now through your eyes… Having listened to your lessons, story and experience, I have realised I have slowly been relying less on the people around me say and working my way to becoming more industrial by nature. Whenever I have been a little lost or unsure of how to approach something and rather, find myself searching the podcast where you may have addressed this situation.
Since then, what has happened:
November/December was extremely serendipitous and very random which both encouraged me to send this to you and makes me want to try and take full advantage of this situation:
- I just finished a four-week secondment to an Xxxxx SOE in Xxxx, “Xxx Xxxx” which required me to write up a technology-based RFP, however, in the spirit of doing the best work they had ever seen
- I not only delivered the day job but I used the lessons from “How to generate an insight” to create some poignant points on their challenges, I used “Partnership” to create a perspective for new studies that they should investigate as imperative before they commence and finally used “how to sell like a partner” to potentially point them in the right direction for their journey.
- They have not gotten back to me yet and I do not expect any change as their CEO just left and believe they are in transition again.
All things considered, I was only able to do that as I was sent there and worked in isolation AND confidence to not share knowledge with Xxxxx but whilst this was not hard to do the day job, I worked to listen and apply your lessons which I found thoroughly enjoyable making this work much more fun than I have had in a long time, I am now trying to recreate to the day job.
Throughout what you have said over during the Partnership memoirs, Masterplan program, Bill Matassonis commentary, Monday morning 8 AM and now through the Empire Energy case study, the more and more I listen, the more I feel that the aspiration to work for one of the big three strategy houses so I can work on problems that matter but on the other hand if doing high impact work is the priority then it should not matter where I do it as long as it makes a difference.
Therefore, if I may map my next milestones: In the aspiration of being the worlds most influential Managing Partner I will:
- Try to build a consulting practice in Xxxx (noting it will be difficult to move away from technology)
- Move into Global Strategy (ideally MBB with my inclination being BCG)
- Strive to be a full-time Partner.
As mentioned earlier, in the spirit of making this a two-way relationship AND importantly not wasting your time, my ask is:
From what you know of Xxxx, if my desire is to work on high impact problems and strategy whilst my learning quotient is still absorbing the lessons from being an Insider AND noting I have a mother, brother and fiancé who rely on my salary to keep the lights on… According to a very short statement you made in Matassoni 10 about implementers doing strategy will fail, am I wasting time at Xxxx then who develops project managers and developers as opposed to consultants or is there merit in my desire to build a proper consulting practice here?
A rather deep question but would value YOUR perspective on this so I can make a better-informed choice.
Also, I will add, you made a comment in one of your podcasts that if you had good mentors you may have gotten to Partner faster… I believe the opposite is also very true in that you may have just spent more time listening to other conventional wisdom and been a partner in your 40s instead!
Thank you for your time, will completely understand if you are unable/undesiring to reply as I already get so much from you in the lessons you teach us. I know my life is better than it was without this and will continue to grow, but what I am trying to do is achieve the potential I know I am able to whilst taking those around me on the journey too.
Sincerely,
Xxxxxx

Hi Michael,
Thank you for the content in this series! I was recently promoted for the first time after joining Amazon in their xxxxxx function after 2 years. Through this course I learned the importance of excelling in my core role (sales) and thereby attracting a mentor who moved me into a hybrid sales/analyst role. He then helped me develop the technical and communications skills to get me promoted.
I am now transitioning into a xxxxxxx role with the goal of becoming a business owner of a P&L within the next 2 years. Since I have been promoted, the team lead (~roughly equivalent to associate principal) has signaled that he would like me to work more closely with him.
This is clearly the result of following the advice you give in the mentorship program. Hope to be able to update you soon.

Hi Kris and Michael,
I wanted to thank you for the fantastic content you have produced. I recently got an offer for a Senior Associate position with BCG in Xxxxxxx to start in November this year after spending ~12 months engaging in your content.
As a bit of background on myself:
- Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in finance. GPA: 64.x
- Worked for 5 years in Australia’s second largest bank, in a variety of roles both support and customer facing
- I was declined an offer after getting to the final round last year, I followed up with one of the partners and got his backing to apply again, but had to go through all rounds again
I only discovered the career accelerating potential of consulting in the last 18 months and found Firmsconsulting 12 months ago. I’ve greatly enjoyed the content, I find it both informative, engaging and even humorous at times.
I’m looking forward to continue learning from the videos of Jen/Felix et al as well as the content that is more focussed on Career planning and progression.
If you have any questions about me, I’d be more than happy to answer them.
Kind regards and thanks

Hi Kris,
I want to tell you that I decided to cancel the subscription.
Michael’s materials were the most useful source of education that I’ve had in the last few years. 90% of what I learned about consulting comes from FC, and it definitely had more impact on my career then any other source of education. Michael’s ideas got deeply into my thinking and I might spend hours reflecting on some of the episodes. I even noticed that it took me like a year to understand some of the concepts which is crazy.
Unfortunately, I have to go. In the last few months I noticed that I can’t organize myself to allocate time for FC materials. Which is awful. I’m lost too much in the consulting and start-up routine and not disciplined enough to invest my time into education. That’s my bad.
Thank you for all your effort and knowledge that you share. Please keep doing it in the very sincere way you do it. I think that ideas you spread are extremely powerful and do change the world for the better. FC is a brand that I would without any doubt recommend to my dearest friends and relatives.
Hope to get back to FC soon.

Hello,
I am pleased to inform you that I received an offer from Mckinsey Xxxxxxxx. I will be joining as an implementation consultant after 2 weeks. The material and techniques I learnt at firmconsulting was key to helping me pass the 7 interviews. Special thanks to Micheal for all the training videos and sharing his insightful tips.
I seek your support to grant me access to the advanced strategy training content (Insider access). I was told during an interview by a Mckinsey AP that they rarely hire experienced candidates (I have 11 years supply chain industry experience with no consulting background).
I would like to dispel the myth that “experienced candidates find it challenging to acclimatize”. Since i’ll be joining Mckinsey in 2 weeks, having Insider access at this time will improve my chances of making a good start and achieve long term success at Mckinsey.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Hi Kris and Firmsconsulting,
I would like to take a moment to thank you for the valueable program. I scored my dream job with Roland Berger which I never thought I would have a chance to get it. Only the TCO videos made me ready for the interview. Big thanks.

Hi Kris, I just wanted to drop a note to wish you, Michael and the entire Firmsconsulting team a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you took my questions as only a matter of curiosity and how the billing plans worked. I cannot pay enough for the value and education I get from Firmsconsulting every single day. Every day and especially today I’m filled with gratitude that I’m able to learn from leaders like Michael and Kevin – and to have leaders like yourself invested so personally in my success.
Thank you for everything that you do – it matters for me in my life.
Many Thanks and deepest gratitude,

Dear Michael,
Ever since the beginning of my interest in management consulting, I have listened to your podcasts. They have been of immense value and pleasure to me, and I would like to thank you for it. The way you focus on so much more than just the job, is amazing. Barely have I ever heard someone talking about values and clients first the way you do. Therefore, you are the best example in terms of what a management consultant should be, in my opinion.
I hope that you and Firmsconsulting will keep doing what you are doing. And again, thank you for the value you have created.
Kind regards from Belgium

Great work Kris and all the team,
I look forward to enjoying the new features. I’ve found myself repeatedly returning to long ago view series e.g. Digital & IT Study and the LAB Mkt Entry study for ongoing projects and each time I watch an episode there’s another little insight that I’d missed the first time around that is perfect for the engagement I’m working on.
So thanks again
and warm regards as always

Subject: Thank you — I Climbed Mount Krakatoa, Working on amending Resume
To: <[email protected]>
Dear Michael,
Hope your study is doing well.
I appreciate your feedback about making the most of FCInsiders. I expect to amend my resume by next-week, using your framework on Tom’s session.
I climbed Mount Krakatoa, won a salsa-dancing cup, and won a Gold Medal on Olympiad — To see how impactful your training has been, here are attached on what I thought about authenticity in my context of resume and my resume edit thus far. Irrespective of the end-result, I have enjoyed learning from FCInsiders thus far.
On a side-note, I find it charming that you mentioned to Tom in around section 40 that you are fond of watching Betty Liu in Bloomberg. I enjoy her work too, and since Betty is now off-air, my equivalent is watching Andrew Sorkin in the New York Times Conference. On the latest conference, Peter Thiel’s strikes a similar tone, having listened to your conversation with Tom in around section 50. Thank you for the insight !
Also, my sincerest apologies for not sending a thank-you note right away. I would like to be thoughtful by showing the rate of improvement on my side, and I was indeed floored when you mentioned in Tom’s session that you consider the gesture of not-sending a thank you note right-away a faux-pass.
Since the latest-response sent were from FCsupport, and I have sent my thank-you to the FCsupport email, best regards to Kris as the CEO, and the rest of the team at FC as well.
Thank you Michael.
Warm regards,
Lidya

To: <[email protected]>
Dear Kris,
Firstly, I want to make a request that you should be my friend forever. Lols!
I’m so happy to stumble on your story. I guess that was when i was researching for a blueprint book on the best way to do consulting and found your site some how.
Your story was so fascinating to say the least and i saw myself in your story and since then – about 3 weeks ago – have decided to realign my thoughts and go after my dream.
That’s the power of ‘Story – Sharing’.
The last point on your latest post – i am really far behind to start…. – is what compelled me to write back to you and appreciate you.
I want to say thank you for your encouragement – paraphrasing you – the years still to cover in life holds a lot more than to give up now! No!
I hope to keep in touch and stay blessed.
Joshua.

Dear Mr Boricki,
thank you very much for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience through the Case interviews & Management Consulting podcast. While I have just recently found the podcast, the episodes have already been immensely helpful to me in developing a better picture of the consulting world.
Currently I am in the process of finishing my Master’s degree in biotechnology and planning to go into consulting once I graduate. Your advice has warned me about several pitfalls which I will now know to avoid during the application process.
Thank you once again for making this knowledge available.
Greetings from Germany,

Subject: Status update
Hi Michael,
Progress status so far:
Objective: To lead a profitable & growing operational turnaround firm/practice (find a low performing company->
Critical path steps:
1) Build strong operational turnaround skills: DONE. I decided to buy/outsource such skills instead. I got in touch with an Israeli TOC expert with 30 years of operational turnaround experience, Xxxxxx Xxxxxx, ex-CEO of XXXX Group. I got him to come to XXXXX last month and started to bring him to Xxxx clients. Also have got good connections with TOC experts in India, where TOC is a super hot topic nowadays. CHALLENGE: almost exhausted budget for Xxxx’s arrivals & time.
2) Constantly have a pull of target companies ready for operational turnaround: ONGOING. Moving in 2 directions here:
- Direct sales with a help of Xxxxxx. I broke all possible XXXXX rules & traditions here. Bottom-line: we had an excellent presentation with a major construction company, where 3 out of 5 VPs said that they have seen a lot of consultants recently proposing all sorts of improvement opps, but our presentation was the best. CHALLENGE: Our fees were also the highest, but with a fee having 70% at risk (paid upon productivity enhancement of 30%+). They are thinking, expecting reply this or next week. Can’t wait.
- Cross-sales with other XXXXX practices. I requested a meeting with XXXXX Sr Partner dealing with Restructuring & M&A. Expect to meet him this or next week. Would like to offer him to bring me to his PE clients having a need of turning their production facilities around. Preparing my pitch to the guy. Will try to moderate it the same way Xxxxxx did from the Innovations practice podcast.
UNEXPECTED CHALLENGE: My practice partner seems jealous that I am becoming more autonomous and am proposing Euro 2M deals to big clients.
3)Build credentials by successfully delivering 2-3 operational turnaround projects: TBD
4) Build a capable team (having skills in TOC, Lean, operational turnarounds): TBD
5) Have firm set & ready: DONE. I have got a company registered on me, called Operating Partners. No deals are done via the firm obviously, as I am working at XXXXX. I will see how things go within XXXXX and later will decide whether I stay at XXXXX or lead my own firm.
So, slowly but I am moving forward. Your podcasts on Building Innovations Practice are very relevant and helpful.
Will keep you posted.
Thanks,
Xxxxxxx

Hi Michael,
Thank you very much for putting up such a unique and brilliant program. As you mentioned, it’s going to be initially tough to implement this technique at work as it’s going to be a new way (Atleastfor me). But with time I can see how it’s going to add value in the long term.
Thanks again.

An example of case Interviews programs feedback
From: Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxxx<[email protected]>
Date: Wed, Jul 11, 2018at 3:45 AM
Hi Kris and Michael,
Thank you very much for your reply. As an update to the previous email. I went through with the interviews and have received an offer from BCG Singapore. Your videos were very helpful in preparing for the case interviews. They are also looking to expand the financial services practice in the region and I think I have the right background and relevant experience for what they need.
However, in the end after discussion with a number of people, I have decided to decline the offer and stick with OW, largely for the reasons that you have mentioned in the previous email. I think it is the right choice for me at this point in time.
Again, thank you for your advice and your effort in building up all these content. I will continue to follow the Firmsconsulting programs. What you are providing is really unique and valuable for both aspiring consultants and experienced professionals. Best of luck for your continued success!
Best Regards,
Xxxxx

Subject: BCG Offer Accepted – Senior Associate, xxxxxxxxxx, SE Asia
To: Kris Safarova [email protected]
Dear Kris,
Hope you are doing good. I will be grateful if you could kindly forward this email to Michael and request him to read it.
Dear Michael,
Hope you are doing good.
This email / messageis specifically to say Thank You to you! I am delighted to inform you that I have accepted an offer for the role of a Senior Associate in the xxxxxxxxxxxpractice of BCG SE Asia.
To give you a quick background, I a non-MBA (Engineer) from a non-target University in India. I have about 8 years of professional experience and am currently a Manager in the xxxxxxxpractice of a Big 4 firm in SE Asia.
I had interviewed with BCG in 2016 and like many other candidates, started my case interview preparation using Case In Point after receiving the first round interview call.
During the feedback call, the Project Leader who interviewed me was kind enough to mention that I had the raw skills and hence, he was moving me to the second round interview. The interesting part is that he asked me about the resources that I had used to prepare and I mentioned Case In Point. After hearing this, he advised me to prepare using Victor Cheng’s resources. After preparing for about 3 weeks, I appeared for the second round interview. However, I was rejected. But, I was given positive feedback overall.
In 2018, I was lucky enough to be scouted by a BCG Recruiter for the same role in the same practice in the same office! This time I was well prepared, since I had used the last 2 years to keep in touch with case interview skills and diligently prepared using Victor Cheng’s and Firmsconsulting’s resources. I received the offer after clearing 5 case interview rounds!
To be honest with you, apart from the case in the first round interview (profitability case with 6 graphs), all the other cases were abstract cases (which required a custom issue tree on the spot). Each case was a shortened version of the actual client case that the interviewer had worked on!
In summary, all TCO videos, your articles andpodcasts (wisdom) were the main resources I used to develop structured thinking and crack these case interviews. No matter how tired I was after work, I would come back and do at least one TCO case everyday! Your humor does come in handy 🙂 Solving the cases while listening to your voice on TCO videos was a delight!
I am happy to mention that I thoroughly enjoyed both the preparatory and case interview phases. For me, each case is like solving a puzzle and I can’t seem to stop digging to find out what happens in the end.
I will be starting my new job in January 2019 and will use the next 2 months preparing for BCG. I plan on renewing my premium membership to go through the ‘First 90 days in consulting’ program. I also plan to read all the articles on your blog once more.
1. Kindly advise if there are any other resources that I may use to prepare for BCG. Working at BCG has been my dream for about 6-7 years and I’m in this for the long haul! (I also loved solving cases).
- Kindly keep your articles / resourcesflowing in. You are an inspiration to many many young people like me and no amount of Thanks is enough for the wisdom that you share 🙂
I wish I could talk to you / meet you in person someday 🙂
If you visit Xxxxxx / Xxxxxx, please do write to me 🙂
Best Regards,
Your’s Faithfully,
Raman Xxxxxxxxx

I want to let you know that I got promoted today and my promotion has to do a lot with applying the lessons that I learnt from your various programs. In the firm I am working, it normally takes 2 years minimum to reach this position but I made it in one. The reason is very simple. I strictly followed the lessons from your memoir and 21 day programs.
I personally want to Thank you and the firmsconsulting team for putting such great programs. And also to your adhoc suggestions whenever I was stuck. I am working now on implementing lessons from other programs as well and take my career forward. Thank you once again.
